İzmir Katip Çelebi University

Our university was named in the 17th century. It was named after Kâtip Çelebi, an Ottoman scientist. It is a source of pride for our university that our university, which was established as the 4th State University of İzmir, will keep Kâtip Çelebi alive with a state university. In order to maintain this privilege as a university, the "Research Center for Kâtip Çelebi and His Works" was established with the Official Gazette No. 28661 dated 29.05.2013. The aims of the established Kâtip Çelebi and his works Research Center; To research the works, bibliographic works, world of thought, life, works and works of Kâtip Çelebi, who gave our university its name, in the fields of history, geography, religion, social cultural and folklore, to produce information and services for cooperation with institutions and organizations that have previously conducted research, Kâtip Çelebi ' organizing symposiums, panels and similar events, archiving all kinds of correspondence, information and documents in hand, presenting them to the public by creating a database, conducting studies and researches that objectively evaluate the climate and environment of the period. Zâtü'l-Kürsü (the planetary coordinate system known as the ringed instrument): This tool, whose origin goes back to the Hellenistic period, is called "zat-ul halak" in the Ottomans. Zat-ul-halak, which means ringed instrument, is called "meteoroscope", "armilar sphere" (ringed sphere) or "astrolabium armilare" (ringed astrolabe) in the West. The tool is drawn, envisioning that the ground is in the center. The tool drawn by Ahmed el-Kırımî and fixed with a handle was called Zatü'l-Kürsî (Kürsülü Instrument). This drawing, which depicts the sky that Kâtip Çelebi took to the world, is well known in the New Age in the East and the West. This is the coordinate system connected to the ecliptic circle (ecliptic), usually consisting of 6 rings, showing the signs and rotators. At the center is the world.
