Gebze Technical University

Gebze Technical University, founded in 1992, has been established with the foundation of Gebze Institute of Technology and experience in Turkey on November 4, 2014 and 22-year heritage of history by claiming the Grand National Assembly decision. Gebze Technical University, with its infrastructure, equipment and academic staff, is the youngest yet experienced university, which is a candidate to be the most important science base of our country.

Gebze Technical University started graduate education in 1994-1995 academic year with 80 students in the Electronic Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Biology and Business graduate programs within the Institute of Science. In the 1995-1996 academic year, Computer Engineering, Physics, Architecture, City and Regional Planning, Geodesy and Photogrammetry Engineering, Energy Systems in the 1996-1997 academic year, Mathematics in the 1997-1998 academic year and in the 1999-2000 academic year Earthquake and Building Information graduate programs have been opened. In the 2001-2002 academic year, the Institute of Social Sciences was established, and in the following years, interdisciplinary graduate programs with and without thesis were opened for the current graduate programs' doctoral programs and industry needs.

Gebze Technical University started its undergraduate education in 2001-2002 academic year in the Computer Engineering and Electronics Engineering departments of the Faculty of Engineering. In the 2002-2003 academic year, in the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Materials Science and Engineering and in the Faculty of Science, Mathematics and Physics Departments, in the 2008-2009 academic year, in the Faculty of Business Administration and in the Faculty of Architecture Department of Architecture, in the 2010-2011 academic year, the Faculty of Science Molecular Biology and Genetics department, in the 2016-2017 academic year, in the Department of Environmental Engineering, and in the 2017-2018 academic year, in the departments of Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, Map Engineering, Urban and Regional Planning and Economics.

Gebze Technical University, the year it was founded to provide better quality education since and has continued its efforts to research, 2017-2018 academic year and said the President at the opening was considered to be one of Turkey's 10 research universities, has gained a new status. 

 

Gebze Technical University continues its education in 18 undergraduate departments of 4 faculties and 50 graduate thesis / non-thesis master's and doctoral programs in 9 institutes. As of 2018, Gebze Technical University provides education to 3713 undergraduate and 4599 graduate students and 8312 students, more than 55% of which are graduate students.
