Marmara University

Marmara University is one of the most established educational institutions of our country. Marmara University, which started education in a house behind Istanbul Girls High School in Cağaloğlu under the name of Hamidiye Ticaret Mekteb-i Âlisi in 1887, gave its first graduates (13 people). The school, which was attached to the Ministry of Education on September 21, 1889, was dissolved in 1893 in order to consider its rehabilitation and reopening. It was reopened on October 15, 1897, again under the Ministry of Education, and it has continued its educational activities uninterruptedly since then.

Our institution was transformed into Istanbul Economic and Commercial Sciences Academy in 1959, and with the regulations made in 1982, it took its place among Turkish Higher Education Institutions under the name of Marmara University.

Marmara University started education and training in the 1982-1983 academic year with 9 faculties, 1 college and 1 institute. Today, the number of faculties has increased to 16, the number of colleges to 5, and the number of institutes to 11. The number of associate and undergraduate programs currently open at our university is 199.

Marmara University, Turkey's scientific knowledge close to 3,000 faculty and staff to contribute to the students on the 70.000'n is one of the most important institutions of higher education. Economics, Business, Political Science, Engineering, Medicine, Dentistry, Arts and academic units, especially the Faculty of Theology in Turkish, English, French, German and collects the training site in 5 languages ​​consisting of Arabic Marmara University, one in Turkey with this feature, It is a multilingual university.

Marmara University grew rapidly after 1982, and continued its education and research duties with faculties, institutes, colleges, vocational schools and research-application centers. Our university, which improves its services for the society as well as its teaching activities, attaches great importance to its publication and consultancy studies; In our century when non-industrial societies became an information society, it contributes to the development of manpower and technology needed in our country by adapting to the demands of the society; It successfully represents our country at home and abroad with its educational understanding and research that will provide solutions to economic, political, cultural and similar problems.
